Our Practice in Cochrane

Dr. Iuliano graduated with an honours degree in Biological Science from the University of Calgary with plans to work in the healthcare industry. In 2008, he attended the University of Waterloo Optometry program and graduated with honours in 2012.

After graduation, he spent four months in Dallas, Texas as an intern working at Parkland Health and Hospital, where he specialized in ocular disease, therapeutics, and low vision. Dr. Iuliano returned to his hometown of Calgary, Alberta and purchased Claresholm Eye Care in July 2012 and founded River Heights Eye Care in 2019.

Dr. Iuliano grew up playing competitive hockey and made it as far as the Junior A level. Though he now focuses on providing high-quality eye care to his patients, he has never forgotten his passion for hockey. When he isn’t at work, he spends his time volunteering for Hockey Canada as well as playing golf, participating in various water sports, and running with his dog Loki.

Dr. Shazeen Manji was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, and attended the University of Alberta, where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree. She then went on to earn her optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, where she graduated with honours.

Dr. Manji received her training in a vast array of clinical settings, including private practices and Veterans Affairs hospitals, where she focused on pediatrics and contact lenses. Though she enjoys all aspects of private practice, Dr. Manji has a particular interest in ocular disease and contact lenses. She completed her ocular disease externship at the Wilmington V.A. Hospital and has completed an advanced studies course in contact lenses, giving her unique insight into fitting specialty contact lenses. In 2019, Dr. Manji founded River Heights Eye Care where she is now practicing.

In her spare time, Dr. Manji enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and travelling.

Dr. Brianna Mairs was born and raised in Abbotsford, British Columbia. She moved to Winnipeg to attend the University of Manitoba where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree. She earned her optometry degree from the Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon where she graduated with honours.

Dr. Mairs received her optometric clinical training in a variety of medical and private practice settings that have taken her all around the United States and Canada. She did an Ocular Disease and Low Vision externship rotation at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Lexington, Kentucky where she developed a passion for the medical side of optometry. She has a special interest in geriatrics and ocular disease but enjoys seeing patients of all ages.

She values taking the time to listen to each patient’s needs to provide personalized care, as well as fully ensuring each patient understands their ocular health. By keeping up with the latest technology and advancements in eye care, Dr. Mairs provides patients with the best options that fit their unique lifestyle. She prides herself in leading with kindness and compassion and is motivated by creating a long-lasting relationship with her patients.

Dr. Mairs recently moved from Winnipeg to Cochrane with her fiancé. She enjoys spending her free time trying new foods and restaurants, visiting local coffee shops, hiking in the mountains, spending time with family, and finding new experiences.

Originally from Nova Scotia, Amanda started her optical career in New Brunswick in 2005. She moved to Calgary in 2008 and became a Licensed Optician with the College of Opticians of Alberta that year. Over the years she has worked in many different optical environments and even managed a practice for over 10 years. She loves providing great customer service, helping people achieve the best vision possible and finding the perfect “look” for her patients. Amanda and her husband moved to Cochrane in 2013 to get back to that small town feeling. She can frequently be found at the pool or playground with her 2 kids. Amanda loves to spend time outdoors with her family and pets or curling up for family movie nights!

Karla has worked in many different administrative environments over the last 11 years. She has also worked in an optical environment for 7 months prior to joining our office. She graduated from Georgian College in 2012 with a Diploma in Executive Office Administration. She loves to learn and is eager and open to trying new things.
Karla is originally from Ontario and moved to Cochrane in Spring of 2023 with her Husband and 2 kids. She loves to take her kids to the park, watch movies, and enjoys spending time with her family.
Karla enjoys helping patients with appointments, frame selections, repairs/adjustments, and making sure they are satisfied at every visit.
